WITH ROTARY CLUB OF SLOUGH

 

Slough Rotary's Youth Programme including Youth Speaks,Young Photographer, Young Writer and Dictionaries for Life all offer various participation opportunities for businesses and other organisations.

YOUTH SPEAKS

A formal National Speaking Competition for Secondary School Pupils, run by Rotary. We hold a Club heat, from which the winners of the Senior and Intermediate Competition progress to an Area Final, the District Final, a Regional Final and the National Final at the annual UK Rotary Conference. In 2010 Herschel Grammar School got as far as the Regional Final in both sections. There are opportunities to sponsor the club competition programme, prizes for the winning teams and runners-up and to provide light refreshments for competitors and guests.

YOUNG WRITER COMPETITION/ YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER COMPETITION

These competitions take place towards the end of the calendar year and early in the new year. The 2011/12 competitions will be launched on 16th December 2011 with entries required by 22ndJanuary 2012. There are three age groups JUNIOR: Aged 7 -10 year, INTERMEDIATE:Aged 11 -13 years and SENIOR: Aged 14 - 17 years. These competitions are to encourage young people to experiment with photography and to encourage excellence in writing.

There are opportunities as overall for each competition, for prizes and taking part as judges .

DICTIONARIES 4 LIFE

An Illustrated Dictionary to encourage breadth of Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension in Primary Schools. In 2010 the club presented a personal copy to each pupil in Year 4 of all the Primary Schools in Slough, Burnham and Langley, (over 2500 Illustrated Dictionaries). We hope to continue with this targeting those with special needs and from Lower Income Homes. The sponsor opportunity is be identified with the gifting of the dictionaries by providing funds for their purchase.

THE ANNUAL SLOUGH TOGETHER QUIZ NIGHT

 'This great night out for all Slough & District QUIZ TEAMS' usually takes place in November and attracts up to 150 participants in teams of up to 10 players competing for the perpetual Slough Express Trophy. The competition raises inthe order of £1,000 for designated Slough and other Rotary charities. Those attending the Quiz can be counted upon to be in a generous mood with attractive raffle prizes and items for auction.

Sponsorship opportunites exist for;

Quiz Sponsor Company name displayed on all publicity and press release material, entry for one team in the competition, opportunity to display company material (stand, banner, posters, literature) at the event

Charity Raffle/Auction Prize Donation - Fee or gift optional,company name associated with the prize, Company name in the Programme as a Raffle/Auction Subscriber.
